The memory of India, the idea re-visited by two Italian artists: Azelio Corni and Pino Ceriotti. Azelio Corni emphasizes charming architectures richly decorated and offers to the eye of the viewer uncanny moments. Blurred profiles of highly decorated and monumental architectures, being mixed up, create an exchange between the sign and the raw matter of the canvas. Ceriotti on the other side remembers India through huge portraits of man and women he met in many years travelling. Glimpses charged with expressions offer high communicability, highly charged with magnetism; an explicit display of human energy and vibrations that is transferred from the colours of the paintings, to the eyes of the viewers.
Azelio Corni was born in Sesto Calende, near Milan (Italy) in 1948; he graduated from Brera Accademy in Milan, now he lives and works in Castelletto Sopra Ticino, a township near Milan. Azelio Corni uses materials as the result of the need of producing linguistic practices over a pure formal synthesis. His mission is to build up the form, which results in being a human process, humanistic, probably today also humanoid, maybe, no longer schizophrenic. If the gaze discovers the world, it reveals it in the moment it proceeds with the parallel imitation, not a mere reproduction or a mirror image. So the addiction and subtraction of the part becomes method, ritual, but also a meditation, on the “real” in its high ethic condition; addiction and subtraction not to read as a modular system but as a free use of the object and the sign.
Pino Ceriotti (commonly known by his friend as “Pece”) was born in Busto Arsizio, near Varese (Italy) the 13th of June 1955, where he still lives and work. His art has been, for many years, focused on expressive activities in the field of painting and photography, stressing the importance of the Oriental Culture. He is active and practicing in the field of art therapy, social activities and collaborates with Medical and Psychiatrists institutions. He participates to numerous, national/internationals, personal and collective exhibitions. Pino Ceriotti’s pectoris research is characterized by a post-pop aura, made possible with the use prints cuttings, bits of material, over which he paints. The massive oil portraits that he produces, posses a mystical drive, the subjects are modern icons of the world culture, images of personalities, which are realistic and at the same time symbolic.
