About the artists
Jivya Soma Mashe – The grand master of Warli art in India, he has been honoured with several awards both nationally and internationally. Recently he was also awarded the Padma Shri by the Indian Government for his work in the art field; this is one of the highest awards given to a civilian. His artworks grace the walls of several international museums. .
Vijay Mashe – The grandson of Jivya Soma Mashe, he has apprenticed with the master artist himself. He paints in the Warli style but introduces different elements in his works based on his experiences and imagination. Jivya himself commends Vijay with having a good eye and a steady hand.
Nikki Singh Ureti – Trained by the legendary Gond artist Jangarh Singh Shyam, his nephew Nikki Singh Ureti has consistently been creating works in the Gond tribal style. The village life, deties and mythological figures form the focus of his compositions. The vibrant colours used in the paintings create a visual treat. |
