Comments:
I feel that it is increasingly difficult to find any semblance of beauty in the brutal world around us. Beauty is all pervading, but we are so overwhelmingly enveloped by it, that we find it difficult to see what lies in front of our very eyes. Art, in essence, seeks to imitate life, and in turn captures that elusive grace. It is, therefore, my belief that art as a form of expression has an increasingly important role to play in the era that we live in. Art redeems mankind, and it is through my painting that I seek to crystallize the evanescent grace of the world, and conquer, and perhaps even transcend, its savagery. The primary objective of my painting is not to depict realistic images but to evoke feelings and emotions in the minds of the viewer. The reason that this is so important is that most of human life exists unconsciously beneath the surface of perception and beyond that reach of voluntary, purposeful thinking. Within this nether world lie the strong untamed and irrational forces that give life to our being and definition to what it means to be human. In the words of William Blake : “If the doors of perception were cleansed, Everything would appear to man as it is, infinite”. |
