Comments of the artist:
In my works I am trying too react to my surroundings ironically!!! I depict the open drama taking place on the road. The noisy roads let me to search for the silence zone. My works reflect the original characteristic of the city. The day to day experience makes my works rich with road objects .one can find the symbolic presence of the city which witnesses the whole drama. Drama not of the formal representation only but the context base also. One always sees space for some creatures in my canvas. The flat background represents the other objects prominently. One can find my canvas with some frequently used objects like loudspeaker, rickshaw, horns, traffic signals, a punctured cycle with news paper, zebra crossing etc. from noisy earlier representation my works move to more silent presentation of noise first where I used pictorial space with full of floating shapes on the canvas now my representation became quite minimalist. Earlier direct presentation gives way to more symbolic composition. Even some new objects got space like construction site or tires or telephone, road or fighter plane or helicopter etc. I am experimenting with formal presentation talking place and now on children and human facts comes on the surfaces some how I also want to comment on the page 3 society, even the earlier street pictures and the recent works reflect the identical conflicts of the city it self. The quest for my own identity makes me more experimental with my works. I always present the strokes of acrylic colours it is more ideal to present the stiffness of the city. From earlier gaudy presentation of colours now become more smooth and rhythmic. Probably I tried flat colours. If we talk about the painting with pink loudspeaker and a parrot sitting on a wire searching for the silence zone!!! The rhythmic colours scheme attracts ones attention. And the painting with red background with a punctured cycle with newspaper and you can see the mikes used as texture directly commenting on the page 3 societies. The ironic presentation you can see in painting with self portrait with loudspeaker and nails. In the painting where two children are playing on the road show the contrast of class identity. I always tried to give voice to different issues simultaneously by objects. Though my search for self is yet not over, my experiments with my work are going on and on. Dedication for my work and commitment makes me closer to my goal. My experience makes my pictorial space with full flow of different objects the journey is still going on..... The search is still continuing..... The conflict is on..... |
