Jungle … The very word conjures images of creatures wild and dangerous; Terrors unforeseen and deadly. Beasts and reptiles, all awaiting to pounce on the unfortunate human who foolishly dares to enter its formidable confines. In-fact there exists in this self same an ordered society, arranged by nature to serve the needs of its ward. The earth and sun create plants that supply food to herbivores and these in tern are eaten by carnivores. When a plant or animal dies, a tree falls, or antlers of a deer are shed, the process of decay sets in and energy is recycled back to the earth where it all come from in the first place. Nothing is wasted. This was not always so. Man was once an integral part of nature’s ecosystem. Now however, he has progressed! His demands outstrip nature’s capacity for regeneration. He plunders forests. He slaughters animals. He pollutes rivers. He denudes grasslands. He tampers with delicate fabric of nature’s balance and in doing so enmeshes in him self in consequences, he neither foresees nor controls. Why? If the destiny of these denizens have to become ours, then may be, we will be to realize the danger and the damage we have caused to mother earth and to ourselves. Thus, the ‘Face Off’ begins………. |
