Artist: Anjali Thakur
Title: Untitled 5
Media: Acrylic on canvas Year: This artwork represents space - the eternal reality and its soliloquy. Objects surrounding the space, serve as props, as if a silhouette, that helps distinguish it from the visible world. Space is eternal. Hence, in each of these paintings, the surroundings change, while the space expresses itself, within the area left thereby. It is an attempt to take a look beyond the material world, without ignoring it.

Comments :
Till date, I’ve produced ideas and copy for the field of advertising. However, as a human being I may or may not agree with the value promised by a product or a service. I believe, art serves as an ideal platform for self-expression. It allows me to present my own thoughts and feelings, my beliefs and experiences. I like to experiment with different materials, and concepts, therefore I want my work to evolve, beyond any rules. Over a period, I see myself dedicating most of the time, to bring out my questions, enquiries and contemplations, into the form of visual statements: by means of paintings, installations and relevant media. Proposed untitled paintings depict ‘Space’ – the eternal reality and its soliloquy. Here, the objects serve merely as the props forming the border, as if a silhouette, that helps distinguish it from the visible world. Space is eternal. Hence, in each of these paintings, the surroundings change, while ‘the space’ expresses itself, within the area left thereby. It's an attempt to take a look beyond the material world, without ignoring it. Enclosed paintings (acrylic on canvas) represent the progression, of my first experimental works with mixed media (starch, betadine solution and natural dyes) on paper.
