Comments of the Artist:
Body; is the heaven of the mind, the soul, the form, and all of these dwell together in a human form; perhaps the only form, and any form of art is nothing; but an interplay of these vital elements that narrate experiences and give them expressions. The human body is nothing but a beautiful mind that helps us to understand these elements and their interplay with the inner self.
My work is about giving expression to the personal as well as global perspective about the way of encountering life that encompasses immediate surroundings and its various elements. Chosen concepts are the outcome of blending of multifarious emotions and thoughts with an air of visual splendor predominantly.
In the process, concepts have given way to maturity. In a bid to answer the quest that lures me time and again. My work celebrates the sensuality of the human form- figure often luxuriating, nude, against lush decorative background or sometimes frozen, naked, into empty fields of muted color. The textures of the flesh are captured with the use of multilayer of delicate acrylics and sensitive rendering of light. The paintings often seduce the viewer with a dreamlike flow of imagery and some time scientific approach.
Although much of my work depicts fantasies of wealth and splendor, it is not the luxury of a materialistic world that is being celebrated rather the wealth of the imagination, where the mind is free to gather images from different eras, creating vision of beauty that seem to be haunted by there own perfection. In this way my paintings convey a certain melancholic year for lost eras and a child like sense of wonder, underlay with a knowing sense of humor.
Through my work I have also tried to bring out the various sensations; that a man experiences in his body; given a certain situation. At places colors have also been used to capture the physical manifestation of these sensations. In some of my works I have captured the sensation of acute fear or excitement in the form of goose bumps. Most of my works represent sensuality where in butterfly “a symbol of beauty, delicacy, feminism and most of all, nature” and male figures aroused with lust are quite evident, a one of the most common sensations experienced by people; it’s impersonal too because it happens to all human beings at some point or the other but yet it’s very personal, because causes of such a sensation vary from person to person.
Through my works I have also tried to depict the dual existence of nature, where one exists because of the other -like the male and female i.e. butterfly and the metamorphosis that is brought about in each of them. |
